The purpose of this initiative is to identify talented students who are facing financial difficulties. Waseela e Taleem Digital under the Ehsaas Umbrella:
Since 2012, Pakistan has launched Waseela-e-Taleem, an Education Conditional Cash Transfer for primary school-aged children in selected areas. This initiative is now being implemented across the country, marking a significant shift. In the past, the program encountered a number of challenges namely high administrative cost, weak compliance monitoring system, low stipend amount, and high error and fraud due to a paper-based approach. Over the past year and a half, a comprehensive and deep-rooted reform was designed and implemented, resulting in major changes to the program. There are four major reform pillars: First and foremost, end-to-end digitalization of a variety of formerly manual procedures.
Staff can register youngsters and check compliance using apps that have been created. Secondly, a cost-effective institutional framework established in order to scale out this effort throughout the country, with less need for NGOs. As a result, operating costs cut from 8% to 3%. Third, in accordance with Ehsaas’ new Stipend policy, the stipend paid to children has been changed. Children from the poorest families will now get conditional cash handouts of Rs. 1,500 per quarter for boys and Rs. 2,000 per quarter for girls if they attend school at least 70% of the time. Finally, and perhaps most crucially, the initiative is being extended to all of the country’s districts.
The Waseela Taleem Program does not have a deadline, therefore students can apply at any time during the year. As a result, everyone in need should apply for this fantastic service. This program is open to students from all across Pakistan.
Students from ICS, Pre-Engineering, Pre-Medical, ICOM and other intermediate areas are eligible to apply. Matric students in computer science and biology are also eligible to apply. This year, kids from grades 6 through 10 preferred.
