The Biology Centre at the Czech Academy of Sciences in Ceske Budejovice is offering a PhD position at the Laboratory of RNA Biology of Protists at the Institute of Parasitology. Our team focuses on studying RNA biology in protozoan parasite Trypanosoma Brucei and related flagellates. These single-celled organisms have intricate life cycles, where gene expression is mostly controlled after the transcription phase. Our research delves into important aspects like tRNA processing, nuclear export/import, tRNA modifications, and stop codon reassignment in these parasites. We aim to uncover unique RNA processes that could potentially lead to RNA-based therapies for genetic diseases in humans caused by premature stop codons.
