Dr. Ernesto Llamas will lead the project in collaboration with Professor Alga Zuccaro (CEPLAS) and Professor David Vilchez (CECAD). This groundbreaking discovery paves the way for potential treatments of human proteinopathies using plant-based molecular mechanisms. We have demonstrated that introducing a synthetic plant protein can reduce the aggregation of huntingtin in human cells and C. elegans.
The selected candidate will be dedicated to enhancing synthetic plant-derived proteins with the goal of developing a potential therapy for Huntington’s disease and other neurodegenerative diseases associated with protein aggregation.
